How it plays

  1. Everyone makes a royal. The first Monarch cards are drawn β€” one throne for up to 10 players, two for 11–19, three for 20–29 (King, Queen, Jack…), one more per 10 after that.
  2. Each turn every Monarch types the answer to their own question in front of the class. Monarchs earn Royalty points for every turn they start on a throne β€” the only way to score.
  3. Everyone else draws a Coup card each turn (up to seven) and may play some of them. They can also answer the Monarchs’ questions on their phones: any right answer that turn earns an extra card, and being first to get a question right earns one more.
  4. If the class plays enough cards together, every Monarch who answered wrong is replaced by someone who played. A right answer protects you from that.
  5. A full hand of seven Coup cards from one player takes the throne of their choice β€” right answer or not.
  6. A Monarch can step down and pick who replaces them. First to the target points wins β€” or the most points when time runs out.
